Understanding Basic Rights
Basic rights are the fundamental freedoms and protections that every child should have. These include:
- The right to life and survival
- The right to a name and nationality
- The right to have a family
- The right to basic needs (food, water, shelter)
- The right to protection from harm
These rights are protected by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and are considered essential for every child's wellbeing and development.
